Strive Surpasses Metaplanet in Bitcoin Market Valuation Despite Fewer Holdings

Strive, Inc. has achieved a notable milestone by surpassing Metaplanet in Bitcoin market capitalization, despite holding significantly fewer coins. Strive's market valuation has reached between $2.5 billion and $3 billion, while Metaplanet's valuation stands at approximately $2 billion to $2.5 billion, despite the latter holding around 43,000 BTC compared to Strive's 24,531 BTC.

The shift in market valuation comes amid a decline in Metaplanet's Bitcoin holdings, which fell over 13% in value last week. In contrast, Strive has been actively acquiring Bitcoin, purchasing 1,375 BTC for about $109 million in the week ending September 4, 2026. This acquisition has contributed to a year-to-date growth of over 225% in Strive's Bitcoin holdings, positioning the company as the fifth-largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin.

Strive's strategy involves leveraging its SATA perpetual preferred stock, which offers daily dividends at an annualized rate of 13%. This financial instrument has allowed the company to raise nearly $1 billion to fund its Bitcoin purchases. Meanwhile, Metaplanet, which added 2,823 BTC in the second quarter of 2026, is facing a valuation challenge despite its larger Bitcoin reserve, as investors appear to favor growth potential and acquisition speed over current holdings. Strive's CEO, Matt Cole, has expressed ambitions to become the second-largest public holder of Bitcoin by the end of the year, indicating a competitive landscape in the corporate Bitcoin treasury market.
