Google Launches a Platform for Creating Games Using Prompts

      • Google has unveiled a platform that lets you create your own games without programming skills.
      • Users can test, tweak, and publish games, as well as share them via a link or the Playground Explore gallery.
      • The platform is available in the US for users aged 18 and over, and the feature set depends on your Google AI subscription.

Google has unveiled Playground — an experimental platform that lets you create, run, and share your own games without programming skills. Users guide development through text prompts, describing the desired mechanics, rules, characters, or game environment.

The platform runs directly in the browser, so created games can be played on both smartphones and laptops. Playground is available in the US for users aged 18 and over, and the set of creation tools depends on the level of your Google AI subscription.

      How Does Playground Work?

Users can start building a game from scratch or use ready-made prompts. After that, the result can be tested immediately and further refined using text commands.

In particular, Playground lets you adjust physics, rules, characters, and environments. This way, users can gradually evolve the initial idea without working directly with code.

The finished game can be kept private, sent to friends, or published in the Playground Explore gallery. For certain genres, multiplayer mode and in-game leaderboards are available.

Users with a Play Games profile can also choose a unique nickname, add games to favorites, follow creators, and compete for spots on the leaderboards.

Published games are reviewed for compliance with the Community Guidelines. Users can also report content that violates the platform’s rules.

Playground Will Be Integrated With Unity Spark

Google also announced a future integration of Playground with Unity Spark. It is expected to give creators access to professional game mechanics, 3D capabilities, and the Unity runtime environment.

Unity Spark is currently in testing, and its closed beta is expected to begin soon. Google positions the integration as a way to expand games created via text prompts into more complex Unity projects.

Playground was launched as an early experiment that Google plans to develop together with the community. The platform is already available to users in the US aged 18 and over.

As a reminder, Google previously released Gemini 4 Argon with 1 million tokens and unrestricted cybersecurity protection.
