Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP Coin Surges After Crash Probe

Hunter Biden's LAPTOP meme coin rallied 21% within 24 hours of a forensic report that pinned the token's 99% crash on a market maker who deposited a fraction of the $500,000 it held to support trading. The Base-based token, launched as a political counter to President Donald Trump's TRUMP coin, had collapsed almost immediately after its debut.

Forensic Report Points to a $5,200 Liquidity Shortfall

Biden's team hired independent blockchain forensic firm Groom Lake to investigate the crash. The report found that a trusted counterparty referred to as "Market Maker 1" deposited just $5,200 of the $500,000 it held to support trading into the liquidity pool. The pool opened with roughly 30,000 LAPTOP tokens, representing 0.003% of its one-billion-coin supply, which the report found was 1,224 times easier to push the price up than down, compared with 33 times for the most lopsided of 668 other launches on the same marketplace.Market Maker 1 subsequently withdrew from the pool with a $686,000 gain, while a second market maker took in roughly $2.2 million more than it spent through decentralized exchange trading, according to the report. The founding members' tokens remain locked in a single Base-chain address and have not been sold since launch.

Biden Demands Token Buyback and Burn

According to Coinpedia, Biden called on the unnamed market maker to repurchase and burn tokens to offset the damage. His team confirmed that his personal allocation remains locked for six months and vests over two years, according to the founding team's note. Groom Lake verified that the founders' 300 million tokens, representing 30% of the supply, have not been sold or moved.According to Coinpedia, the team also announced plans to burn unclaimed tokens from the first airdrop, a step that would reduce the circulating supply and theoretically support the price. The forensic breakdown reframes the crash as a counterparty failure rather than a founder-driven exit, which distinguishes it from the rug-pull pattern common in PolitiFi tokens. Whether the distinction holds depends on whether the unnamed market maker complies with Biden's buyback request, a step that carries no contractual enforcement mechanism disclosed in the report.

LAPTOP Joins a Crowded PolitiFi Field Before Midterms

LAPTOP has posted gains even as the broader crypto market fell. The token faces highly speculative trading conditions heading into the November midterm elections, when political meme coins typically see amplified volatility tied to news cycles rather than any underlying utility.

      Community Skepticism Persists

Crypto commentators on X largely dismissed the forensic findings, comparing LAPTOP to other failed influencer tokens. The 21% bounce has not erased the 99% drawdown, and LAPTOP would need to rally more than 9,900% to reclaim its launch-day high. The planned airdrop burn and whether Market Maker 1 responds to Biden's buyback demand are the next catalysts. LAPTOP's price trajectory through November will test whether transparency reports can rehabilitate a token that lost nearly all its value in its first days of trading.
