Binance Founder Warns Against Public Wi-Fi After User Reports Wallet Theft

A user in Singapore reported that 3.7 BNB, a cryptocurrency associated with the Binance platform, was transferred from their wallet after connecting to the free Wi-Fi at Singapore Airport. The user noted that the wallet had not been active for several months prior to the incident, raising concerns about the security of public Wi-Fi networks.

In response to the incident, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao reiterated his long-standing caution against using public Wi-Fi. He emphasized that while connecting to such networks can pose risks, the mere act of connecting should not directly result in a wallet being compromised. Zhao questioned whether there were additional actions taken by the user that could have led to the theft.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding the security of digital wallets and the potential vulnerabilities associated with public internet connections. Users are advised to exercise caution and consider alternative methods for accessing their wallets to mitigate risks.
