Surge in HYPE Options Activity Ahead of October 9 Expiry

Hyperliquid's HYPE token is gaining traction in the derivatives market, with four options contracts trading a total of $3.67 million in notional value ahead of the October 9, 2026 expiry. This surge in activity reflects a growing interest among traders in short-dated positions, as they prepare for a significant expiry date.

Since the launch of HYPE USDC options, futures, and perpetuals on Deribit in June 2026, the trading volume has increased substantially. Bybit also entered the market in August 2026, providing traders with additional access to derivatives. As of late September 2026, HYPE options on Deribit have recorded 26,820 trades and a total turnover of $5 million, with September alone accounting for over half of this volume.

The current trading range for HYPE is between $88 and $89, which gives traders a specific price level to consider for their options strategies. The upcoming October 9 expiry is particularly noteworthy, as it is part of a broader cluster of 1.5 million open contracts set to expire on October 30, 2026. The recent trading activity indicates a concentrated focus on this expiry, with market participants eager to see if the turnover record set on September 25 will be surpassed as the date approaches.
