Tempo Launches Open USD Integration for Enhanced Enterprise Payments

Tempo, a Layer 1 blockchain developed by Stripe and Paradigm, has integrated Open USD (OUSD), a stablecoin backed by Stripe subsidiary Bridge, as of September 30, 2026. This integration provides businesses with a robust platform for payments, settlement, and treasury management, boasting over $400 million in liquidity. Tempo aims to be a leader in enterprise-focused blockchain solutions, particularly for stablecoin transactions.

OUSD's reserves are managed by prominent financial institutions including BlackRock, Lead Bank, and BNY. The stablecoin offers a business-friendly structure with no mint or redeem fees and no volume caps, allowing enterprises to conduct large transactions without incurring significant costs. Participating businesses in the OUSD framework include major names such as Visa, Mastercard, and Coinbase, indicating strong institutional interest.

Tempo's mainnet, launched on March 18, 2026, prioritizes low transaction costs, with average fees below $0.001. This cost efficiency means that a company processing a million transactions monthly would incur fees of less than $1,000. Additionally, Tempo features a built-in decentralized exchange for stablecoin swaps and a Fee Automated Market Maker to ensure liquidity across the network. The integration of OUSD is expected to further solidify Tempo's position in the enterprise payments landscape.
