Coinbase, Visa, and Others Become Founding Partners of Open Standard

Open Standard has announced that Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe, and Visa are its first five founding partners, each acquiring an equal share of initial equity in the company. The announcement was made by Open Standard CEO Zach Abrams, who clarified that the company operates under a management team rather than a collective decision-making process involving numerous participants. The founding partners will hold governance roles, while other partners will be compensated based on their contributions to the supply and trading of OUSD, the company's digital asset.

In addition to their equity stake, the founding partners have pledged to invest over $1 billion in the coming months to enhance liquidity for OUSD. Specific investment amounts and shareholding ratios for each company have not been disclosed. Currently, these five companies are the sole investors in Open Standard, but Abrams anticipates expanding the founding partner group to approximately 10 to 12 in the future, alongside the establishment of a governing board.

The interest in OUSD integration has surged, with the number of partners planning to adopt the digital asset rising from over 140 in June 2026 to more than 200. Notable recent additions to this list include SBI Holdings, UBS, and the fintech company Jeeves.
