US SEC: Public comments on Reg Crypto proposal will continue to be accepted after comment period closes

PANews, October 21 - According to Eleanor Terrett, the comment period for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Regulation Crypto Assets (Reg Crypto) proposal closed on October 20 local time. An SEC spokesperson said the SEC encourages feedback to be submitted before the deadline, but will continue to accept public comments on the rule proposal after the period ends. The proposal was formally introduced by the SEC in August and would establish a new financing exemption for crypto project issuers raising funds in the United States. Some offerings would not need to be registered with the SEC, with limits of up to $5 million over four years or $75 million per year. The proposal would also establish a conditional safe harbor.
