XRP Price Near $1.30 After Weekly Slide, With 1 Billion XRP…
XRP entered Sunday, October 18, trading near $1.30 after another difficult week for holders, with exchange-traded funds recording net withdrawals, Evernorth's newly listed shares retreating and Ripple's next monthly escrow release approaching.XRP Insights reported that the token finished the October 9–16 reporting period at $1.30, down 6.5% over the week. CoinGecko's historical prices independently confirm the broader decline, although its different daily closing methodology does not reproduce the exact 6.5% figure. Its rolling seven-day reading on Sunday indicated a decline of roughly 7%–8%.XRP traded around $1.29–$1.30 on October 18, leaving holders watching whether institutional demand can stabilize before two dated events: the Federal Reserve's October 28 interest-rate decision and the November 1 escrow unlock.
XRP ETF Flows Turn Negative as Assets Fall to $1.56 Billion
US XRP investment funds experienced approximately 1.8 million XRP in net withdrawals during the five trading sessions ending October 16, equivalent to roughly $2.3 million, according to XRP Insights' October 17 supply report. The tracker estimated combined holdings of 1.19 billion XRP and assets of $1.56 billion at the settled Friday close. Its coverage includes six US spot XRP ETFs and the XRP allocation within Bitwise's BITW index fund. The distinction matters because BITW is not a dedicated spot XRP ETF. XRP Insights also excludes Grayscale's GXRP from its flow calculation while correcting a historical data gap, although it includes the fund's holdings in its asset totals.A separate tracker covering dedicated US spot XRP ETFs recorded approximately $1.8 million in net outflows for the five-day period, with $1.47 billion in assets. The datasets use different fund coverage and methodologies, so their figures should not be combined.Friday was particularly weak. XRP Insights recorded approximately 2.84 million XRP leaving its tracked funds on October 16, following smaller positive readings earlier in the week. The week's net withdrawals represented only about 0.15% of the 1.19 billion XRP held across the broader tracked fund universe. This is not evidence of a large-scale institutional exit. The decline in combined asset values also reflects XRP's falling market price, not simply redemptions. A fund can report lower assets under management even when its token holdings remain nearly unchanged.FinanceFeeds previously examined the relationship between XRP ETF inflows and asset valuations, highlighting why changes in fund assets should not automatically be interpreted as fresh buying or selling.Evernorth Stock Retreats After Nasdaq Debut
Evernorth Holdings, the XRP-focused digital asset treasury company trading on Nasdaq under the ticker XRPN, also struggled during the week.XRPN closed Wednesday, October 14, at $15.26, down 7.40% for the session. The stock subsequently recovered to $16.07 on Thursday before falling 3.86% to $15.45 on Friday, October 16.That Friday close represented a decline of approximately 9.6% from the previous week's $17.09 closing price on October 9.The retreat followed considerable volatility around Evernorth's public-market debut. Unlike direct ownership of XRP, XRPN gives investors exposure to a publicly traded company whose value depends on its assets, management decisions, capital structure and operating performance.Evernorth holds approximately 473 million XRP and has outlined plans to generate returns by actively deploying its treasury rather than simply holding the tokens. On October 14, the company identified Ripple, Coinbase, Kraken and BitGo as initial partners for its institutional execution strategy. FinanceFeeds reported that Evernorth plans to begin deploying its XRP treasury during the fourth quarter, although the company has not disclosed the initial allocation or exact strategies. For XRP holders, the relevant question is whether treasury activity creates additional token demand or simply changes how an existing position is managed.XRPN's share-price decline does not establish that Evernorth sold XRP, and the two assets should not be treated as interchangeable market indicators.November 1 Escrow Unlock Could Release Up to 1 Billion XRP
Ripple's next scheduled escrow window opens on Sunday, November 1, at 00:00 UTC, when two XRP Ledger escrow objects containing a combined 1 billion XRP become eligible for release. An October 18 XRP Insights ledger snapshot showed 31.40 billion XRP remaining in Ripple-controlled escrow, representing 31.4% of XRP's original 100 billion supply. The November event follows a long-established monthly release mechanism, but the headline amount should not be confused with the quantity ultimately entering circulation.Ripple has historically returned unused tokens to new escrow contracts. According to the tracker, the company released 12 billion XRP across the previous 12 monthly cycles and subsequently re-locked 8.4 billion, or 70%.October provides a recent example. On October 1, 1 billion XRP was released, but 700 million XRP was subsequently placed into new escrow contracts, leaving 300 million XRP outside escrow on a net basis. That 300 million is not necessarily equivalent to XRP sold on exchanges. Released tokens can remain in Ripple-controlled wallets or be used for other purposes without immediately becoming open-market sell orders. If November follows the same pattern, its net escrow reduction would be substantially smaller than the gross 1 billion XRP headline. However, the actual re-locking amount cannot be known before the relevant transactions occur. What matters for the XRP price is the subsequent movement and use of released tokens, rather than the scheduled unlock alone. What Could Move the XRP Price Before November?
The next scheduled macroeconomic event is the Federal Reserve's October 27–28 policy meeting, with the interest-rate decision due Wednesday, October 28, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. The Fed raised its benchmark rate by 25 basis points in September to a range of 3.75%–4.00%. A stronger-than-expected September inflation report subsequently renewed debate over whether policymakers could raise rates again in October or leave policy unchanged. For XRP and other cryptocurrencies, the relevant transmission mechanism is investor appetite for risk. Higher expected interest rates can support yields on traditional assets and increase the relative cost of holding non-yielding cryptocurrencies. However, an interest-rate decision alone does not determine XRP's direction. The market reaction will depend on how the announcement compares with expectations, the accompanying policy language and movements in broader crypto markets. The other immediate indicator is ETF demand when US markets reopen on Monday, October 19. A return to consistent creations would provide stronger evidence of renewed institutional buying than a single positive session.Longer-term performance remains another consideration. CoinDesk's October 16 analysis examined XRP's substantial underperformance relative to Bitcoin and Ether across previous market cycles, highlighting the importance of circulating supply, investment demand and network activity when interpreting price gains. The immediate outlook is more measurable. October 19 brings the next ETF flow readings, October 28 brings the Fed decision, and November 1 brings the scheduled escrow release. For holders, those events will provide fresh evidence about demand, market conditions and available supply. None guarantees a price recovery, but each offers a concrete test of whether XRP's recent weakness is stabilizing or extending into November.Source: FinanceFeeds
