Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Stock Surges 166% YTD as Networking Growth Outlook Climbs
TLDR
- Shares of HPE advanced 1% Thursday, marking a fresh all-time peak following Wednesday’s record closing price.
- The tech giant secured a $1.2 billion contract from cloud provider Vultr for AMD-based Helios AI server infrastructure.
- The company upgraded its fiscal 2027 networking segment revenue growth forecast to a range between high-teens and low-20s percent.
- Citigroup analysts elevated their price objective to $92 while maintaining a Buy recommendation.
- Chief Executive Antonio Neri and board member Gary Reiner executed stock sales in recent weeks through pre-established trading arrangements.
HPE stock gained 1% during Thursday’s session, extending its upward momentum to establish a new peak after achieving a record close just one day earlier.
The year 2026 has delivered exceptional returns for the enterprise technology provider. The stock has surged 166% since the beginning of the year.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, HPE
This remarkable performance centers around a single driving force: artificial intelligence infrastructure demand. Enterprises and cloud providers are racing to expand data center capacity with advanced servers and high-speed networking equipment, positioning HPE at the heart of this massive expansion.
Chief Financial Officer Marie Myers offered a straightforward assessment on Wednesday. “Demand is continuing to outpace supply,” she explained during an interview with Yahoo Finance, emphasizing that the AI-driven growth trajectory shows no signs of slowing.
Company Elevates Networking Revenue Projections
During its annual investor day presentation, HPE announced that fiscal 2026 networking orders are projected to exceed $3 billion—surpassing the $2.5 billion to $3 billion range the company communicated during its third-quarter update.
Leadership also revised upward the revenue growth expectations for the networking division in fiscal 2027. The updated projection now targets high-teens to low-20s percent expansion, accompanied by operating margin forecasts in the mid-to-high 20s range.
Networking division head Rami Rahim credited the integration of Juniper and Aruba assets as a key driver of optimism. He emphasized to investors that the addressable market for networking solutions continues its robust expansion.
The most significant announcement came through the Vultr partnership. The private cloud infrastructure company placed a $1.2 billion order for HPE’s newly launched Helios AI server rack systems, which utilize AMD processors.
This represents the inaugural commercial order for the Helios platform. Vultr plans to deploy the infrastructure across its domestic data center facilities.
Myers spoke enthusiastically about the technical specifications. She described the switch demonstrated at the event as “a work of art,” highlighting its integration of 1,700 copper cables in a single unit.
Financial analysts responded positively. Citigroup lifted its price objective from $76 to $92 while reaffirming its Buy recommendation. Morgan Stanley, Barclays, UBS, and Zacks Research have all modified their targets or ratings this quarter, pushing the consensus analyst target to $71.88.
Executive Stock Transactions Disclosed
Meanwhile, some company insiders have reduced their holdings. Chief Executive Antonio Neri divested 250,000 shares on September 11 at an average price of $60.44 per share, generating approximately $15.1 million through a pre-arranged 10b5-1 trading plan.
Board member Gary Reiner similarly reduced his position that month, selling 17,000 shares at an average price of $56.91. SEC filings show both transactions reduced each executive’s stake by between 15% and 21%.
Company insiders collectively control just 0.44% of outstanding shares. Institutional investors command a significantly larger portion at 80.78%.
The company’s most recent quarterly results, released September 2, exceeded Wall Street projections. HPE delivered earnings of $1.11 per share compared to the consensus estimate of $0.93, while revenue reached $12.21 billion against expectations of $11.97 billion.
The revenue performance represented a 33.7% increase compared to the prior-year period. Management has issued full-year earnings guidance of $3.75 to $3.85 per share.
HPE maintained its quarterly dividend at $0.1425 per share, scheduled for payment on October 16 to shareholders registered as of September 17. The annualized dividend yield calculates to 0.9%.
The stock’s 50-day moving average currently stands at $55.04, substantially below Thursday’s trading price. The company’s market capitalization has reached $85.75 billion.
