Marvell Technology (MRVL) Eyes $70-90 Billion Revenue by 2031 as AI Chip Demand Explodes

      TLDR

      • Marvell Technology shares rallied nearly 8% Tuesday following its Investor Day event.
      • Chief Executive Matt Murphy outlined a fiscal 2031 revenue goal ranging from $70 billion to $90 billion.
      • The projection represents approximately 55% to 60% compound annual growth from the fiscal 2026 revenue base of $8.2 billion.
      • The chipmaker also increased its fiscal 2028 revenue outlook to approximately $20 billion, exceeding prior Street expectations.
      • Analysts maintain a Strong Buy consensus on the stock, with a mean price target of $299.29.

Shares of Marvell Technology rallied nearly 8% during Tuesday’s session, reaching an intraday peak of $290.82. The surge followed Chief Executive Matt Murphy’s presentation of an ambitious long-term growth plan during the company’s Investor Day held in New York.

During his remarks, Murphy communicated that Marvell anticipates achieving revenue in the range of $70 billion to $90 billion by fiscal year 2031. This represents a dramatic expansion from the $8.2 billion in revenue the semiconductor company recorded during fiscal 2026, which concluded in January.

Reaching the stated objective would require maintaining an annual compound growth rate of approximately 55% to 60% throughout the next five-year period. The bold forecast immediately captured investor enthusiasm, driving shares sharply higher as Murphy delivered the guidance.

Beyond the fiscal 2031 projection, Marvell enhanced its nearer-term outlook as well. The company elevated its fiscal 2028 revenue forecast to roughly $20 billion, a meaningful increase from the previous internal estimate of $18 billion.

This revised figure notably surpasses Wall Street’s consensus projection of $18.2 billion for that fiscal year. The upward revision is expected to prompt analysts to recalibrate their financial models in the near term.

AI Infrastructure Demand Underpins Ambitious Targets

The primary catalyst behind Marvell’s growth trajectory is artificial intelligence. Demand for semiconductor components that enable AI-powered data centers has accelerated sharply, and Marvell produces two categories of products positioned directly within this expanding market.

The first category involves customized silicon solutions. Marvell serves major hyperscale customers including Alphabet and Amazon with these tailored components. Within the $70 billion to $90 billion fiscal 2031 target, custom silicon is projected to generate approximately $30 billion at the midpoint of the range.

The second growth driver is networking infrastructure. Marvell’s interconnect portfolio addresses the critical function of transferring data within individual data centers and across distributed facilities. Management projects this segment will deliver $37.5 billion in revenue by fiscal 2031.

Marvell has positioned itself strategically within the AI infrastructure buildout for some time. The stock has appreciated nearly 250% throughout 2026, and currently trades at approximately 50 times forward earnings estimates, reflecting investor confidence in sustained future expansion.

      Analyst Community Maintains Bullish Stance

Marvell holds a Strong Buy consensus rating among Wall Street analysts, supported by 23 Buy recommendations and five Hold ratings issued during the past three months. The consensus price target stands at $299.29.

This target suggests modest upside of approximately 2% from current trading levels, though it’s important to recognize these estimates predate Tuesday’s enhanced guidance. TipRanks assigns Marvell a Smart Score of 9 out of 10, placing the stock firmly in Outperform category.

The elevated score reflects a Strong Buy analyst consensus, positive blogger sentiment, and particularly bullish news sentiment. Crowd wisdom indicators register neutral, while hedge fund positioning has moderated somewhat in recent months.

Market observers should anticipate revisions to analyst coverage in the days ahead. Given the magnitude of the upward guidance revision, both price targets and ratings are likely candidates for adjustment.

For the moment, the market’s response on Tuesday left little ambiguity. Marvell stock recorded one of its most significant single-session advances of the year, driven by guidance that fundamentally recalibrated the company’s growth trajectory through the end of the decade.
