AUDUSD Faces Key Support Ahead of Federal Reserve Rate Decision
The AUDUSD currency pair is experiencing a downward trend this week after breaking below a rising trendline. However, sellers have not managed to push the price below a crucial support area, leaving the pair in a state of uncertainty as traders await the Federal Reserve's upcoming rate decision. This decision is expected to significantly influence the next directional movement of the pair, while current technical levels provide a framework for traders to assess market control between buyers and sellers.
The recent decline brought the AUDUSD into a swing area between 0.7117 and 0.71324, coinciding with the four-hour 200-bar moving average, which enhances its technical significance. Although the price briefly dipped below this swing area, sellers could not maintain the momentum, resulting in a return to the support zone. For sellers to gain a stronger bearish bias, they need to achieve a sustained move below 0.7117 and the moving average, with potential downside targets identified at 0.70950 and 0.70789.
Conversely, buyers are looking to establish control by holding the current support zone. Their initial target is set at 0.71492, a level that previously acted as support before turning into resistance. A successful move above this level, along with the ability to maintain that position, would signal increased control for buyers, with further targets including the four-hour 100-bar moving average and the underside of the broken trendline. The upcoming Federal Reserve decision is anticipated to act as a catalyst for price movement, but the market's behavior around these key levels will be critical in determining the next steps for both buyers and sellers.
