U.S. 10-Year Treasury Yield Reaches 5.25%, Attracting Buyers Amid Market Changes

The yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury note has reached 5.25%, a level that American Century Investments describes as attractive for buyers. This increase in yield is attributed to various market dynamics, including heightened competition from an anticipated boom in artificial intelligence (AI) spending, which is projected to be multi-trillion dollars but may be overly optimistic according to analysts.

American Century Investments has noted that the market is currently pricing in up to four interest rate hikes by the U.S. Federal Reserve over the next year. However, the firm believes this expectation is overly aggressive and may not align with economic realities. Additionally, concerns are emerging regarding lower-tier credit, particularly in CCC-rated corporate bonds, indicating potential instability in that segment of the market.
