US Futures Show Signs of Recovery After Recent Tech Stock Decline

US futures are showing positive movement at the start of the week, recovering from significant losses experienced last week. The technology sector was particularly hard hit, with the Nasdaq Composite Index ending its four-week winning streak, dropping over 4%. The S&P 500 Index also faced challenges, declining approximately 2%, marking its worst weekly performance since June.

Today, Nasdaq futures have risen by 1.4%, while S&P 500 futures are up by 0.8%. This rebound comes as the bond market appears to provide some relief, with 10-year Treasury yields decreasing slightly to 5.06%. This decline in yields is attributed to lower oil prices and potential easing of sanctions on Russia, which may alleviate some pressure on tech stocks that are sensitive to borrowing costs.

Despite the positive start, analysts caution against viewing this as a definitive recovery. The previous week's selloff was influenced by factors beyond the bond market, including concerns over market breadth and momentum. Investors are also reassessing the substantial investments being made in artificial intelligence infrastructure amid high financing costs. Upcoming earnings reports from major companies such as Netflix, Meta, and Tesla will be critical, particularly Meta's results, which are expected to shed light on the company's AI spending and profit margins. Additionally, the US flash PMI readings and Treasury yield trends will be closely monitored as the week progresses.
