Zcash Hits New Highs Following Launch of European ETP, Faces Market Volatility
Zcash has reached new highs this week following the launch of the first European exchange-traded product (ETP) linked to the cryptocurrency by the European asset manager 21Shares. The launch is expected to enhance accessibility and stimulate retail trading activity. Additionally, Grayscale's Zcash ETF (ZCSH) is set for a 3-for-1 share split on September 28, with split-adjusted trading commencing on September 30, which may further boost interest in Zcash.
Despite the initial surge, Zcash has experienced volatility due to broader market dynamics. A recent decline in oil prices, driven by expectations of de-escalation in geopolitical tensions, initially supported risk assets. However, comments from former U.S. President Donald Trump at the UN General Assembly dampened these expectations, suggesting that negotiations with Iran would resume after the upcoming elections. This shift in sentiment contributed to a downturn in the cryptocurrency market.
The recent U.S. Flash Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) data indicated stronger-than-expected economic growth, leading to a hawkish repricing of interest rates and pushing Treasury yields to new highs. Market participants are now closely monitoring developments related to interest rates and the situation in the Middle East, as these factors could significantly influence the performance of cryptocurrencies, including Zcash. If tensions escalate again, it could further pressure Zcash and other risk assets.
