Anthropic Co-Founder: AI Could Significantly Boost US GDP to $44 Trillion

PANews, October 17 - Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark said on Saturday that AI capabilities are rapidly improving and will bring faster changes across various fields. An internal economic model at the company predicts that by 2030, AI could drive US economic output to grow significantly to $44 trillion. Speaking at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok, Clark said the international community needs to work together to establish "special and strict rules" for this transformative technology. Clark said the prediction of US GDP reaching $44 trillion, compared with the current level of just over $30 trillion, "sounds absolutely absurd," but AI is dramatically accelerating scientific discovery. "As long as this technology continues to advance, such an outcome is possible. If GDP really grows by that much, then according to economic theory, new industries and inventions would need to be created to power such a large-scale economic expansion."
