DTCC to Launch Tokenization of 25 Securities on Canton and Besu Networks
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has announced plans to advance the tokenization of securities by launching 25 securities on the Canton and Besu networks. Each token will be backed on a 1:1 basis by securities held in custody by DTCC's subsidiary, the Depository Trust Company (DTC).
In addition to the initial launch, DTCC plans to expand the range of tokenized assets to include networks such as Stellar and the Arc network, which was launched by Circle. The implementation of these expansions is expected to take place in 2027. This initiative marks a significant step in the integration of blockchain technology within the securities industry.
