Bitget Added Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to Its List of Prohibited Countries

      • Bitget has updated its list of banned countries.
      • Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan have been placed under the crypto exchange’s restrictions.
      • User services are also prohibited in a number of countries, including the US, several Asian and European states, and others.

Crypto exchange Bitget has updated its Terms of Use dated October 16, 2026, and added Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to the list of countries and territories whose residents are not allowed to use its platform. The restriction is закреплене in the exchange’s official Terms of Use and also covers a number of other states, including the US, France, Germany, and Japan.

      Countries affected by Bitget restrictions

In the Terms of Use section titled “Prohibited countries,” Bitget listed the states and territories whose users are barred from accessing the platform and services. These include:

      • Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan
      • The US, Canada, France, Germany, Austria, and Japan
      • Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Iraq, and Libya
      • Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand
      • Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions
      • A number of other countries, including Afghanistan, Sudan, Somalia, and South Sudan

The document also states that Bitget may add other countries and territories to the list at its own discretion. The company also предусмотрела a separate verification procedure for legal entities that may have ties to the US to determine whether they fall under restrictions under US law.

The Incrypted editorial team requested a comment from the exchange’s representatives, but had not received a response by the time of publication.

The changes to the Terms of Use came after a major security incident at Bitget in late September 2026. The exchange confirmed the unauthorized withdrawal of assets worth approximately $351.6 million. The company said private keys were not compromised, and the losses are covered by a user protection fund of more than $464 million.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen and onchain analysts suggested a possible link between the attack and North Korean hackers, but the incident’s final attribution has not been confirmed.

After the attack, Chen also said that the exchange is not abandoning its plans to go public in roughly three years.
