Ether ETFs Experience $320 Million in Outflows, Outpacing Bitcoin Funds

In the week ending October 16, 2026, US spot Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) faced significant net outflows totaling approximately $320 million. This figure surpassed the $228 million that left spot Bitcoin ETFs during the same period, indicating a stark contrast in investor sentiment between the two cryptocurrencies.

On October 14, Ether ETFs recorded net outflows of about $129.5 million, followed by an additional $69.7 million on October 16. The BlackRock iShares Ethereum Trust, trading under the ticker ETHA, has been a major contributor to these outflows, often accounting for over 80% of total Ether ETF redemptions in recent weeks.

The ongoing trend of outflows for Ether ETFs has persisted since late September, with losses for the month approaching or exceeding $900 million. In contrast, September saw strong inflows into crypto ETFs, particularly for Bitcoin products, highlighting a significant shift in market dynamics. Despite the recent downturn, Ether ETFs have accumulated over $12.9 billion in net inflows since their launch in July 2024, with total assets under management ranging between $14.5 billion and $15.3 billion.
