Charles Schwab Launches Bitcoin and Ethereum Trading for U.S. Retail Investors

Charles Schwab has announced the opening of Bitcoin and Ethereum trading to eligible retail clients in the United States through its investment platform. The trading service comes with a transaction fee of 0.75%, with a minimum fee of $1 and a maximum transaction limit set at $2 million.

In addition to trading, Charles Schwab is gradually implementing digital asset transfers, allowing users to move cryptocurrencies between Schwab accounts and external wallets. Clients must register their withdrawal addresses in advance and complete necessary security checks to facilitate these transfers.

The custody, trade execution, and settlement infrastructure for these digital assets is provided by Paxos Trust Company. It is important to note that the digital assets traded through Schwab are not protected by the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) or Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) insurance.
