Charles Schwab Survey Reveals 64% of Millennial Crypto Owners Plan to Increase Holdings

A recent survey conducted by Charles Schwab has revealed that 64% of Millennials who currently own cryptocurrency intend to expand their holdings within the next year. This finding positions digital assets as the most sought-after investment among Millennials, surpassing traditional asset classes such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), stocks, and bonds.

The 2026 Modern Wealth Survey, which included responses from 2,000 Americans aged 21 to 75, was conducted between August 24 and September 17, 2026. Among the surveyed Millennials, 33% reported owning cryptocurrency, while interest in direct ownership of Bitcoin or Ethereum was noted among over 40% of those familiar with crypto. This indicates a growing comfort level with direct investment in digital currencies rather than through funds that track their prices.

The survey also highlighted a generational divide in cryptocurrency ownership. While 22% of Generation Z respondents indicated they own crypto, this figure is significantly lower than that of Millennials. This trend suggests that while younger generations are interested in digital assets, the level of ownership may not be increasing uniformly across all age groups.
