Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong Engages Institutional Clients in Singapore

Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase, recently visited Singapore to engage with institutional clients and regulators as part of the company's strategy to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region. During his mid-September trip, Armstrong participated in meetings with local regulators and hosted a roundtable discussion focused on projects built on Base, Coinbase's Ethereum Layer-2 network.

The visit included a Bloomberg Television appearance where Armstrong discussed the broader dynamics of the cryptocurrency industry. Notably, Coinbase has received in-principle approval for a payments institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the city-state's central bank and financial regulator, highlighting the company's commitment to establishing a strong foothold in the region.

Coinbase currently operates an engineering office in Singapore with approximately 150 employees, a number expected to grow to around 200 by the end of 2026. This expansion aims to enhance the company's offerings in advanced trading products, catering to the needs of institutional investors such as hedge funds and sovereign wealth funds looking to invest significant capital.
