COLDCARD Reports Phishing Incident Linked to Official X Account

COLDCARD, a manufacturer of hardware wallets, has reported that its official account on the social media platform X posted a fraudulent security announcement that directed users to a phishing website. This site was disguised as a guide for wallet migration. Although the misleading post has since been removed, COLDCARD has not found any login, session, or access records that would indicate a breach of its own security measures.

The company has assured users that its credentials and offline two-factor authentication remain intact, raising concerns that the attacker may have gained administrative access to the X platform itself. In response to this incident, COLDCARD has called for an urgent investigation by the X security team to determine the extent of the breach.

Additionally, COLDCARD mentioned unverified reports suggesting that administrator accounts on X may be available for purchase on the dark web. However, the company has stated that no direct connection between these reports and the phishing incident has been established.
