Crypto Project Bima Launched Onchain Loans Backed by Assets with Zero Cash Interest Rate

      • Bima has launched zero-interest loans backed by crypto assets.
      • The crypto project offers onchain loans across three networks — Base, BNB Chain, and Ethereum.
      • Loans are available for one month or one year, and funding is provided via a collar options strategy involving selling a call and buying a put.

Crypto project Bima has launched asset-backed lending markets on Base, BNB Chain, and Ethereum. Users can borrow up to 50% of the value of the corresponding collateral with no recurring cash interest, in exchange for capping the asset’s potential upside for an agreed period.

The company aims to reduce the cost of borrowed capital by using options strategies.

Bima offers two loan terms — one month or one year. Despite the zero cash interest rate, borrowers should factor in fees, the cap on potential gains from the asset’s upside, and the need to repay the principal and settle the options once the term ends.

      How Bima Loans Work

The mechanism is based on a collar strategy — a combination of selling a call option and buying a put option. The premium from selling the call partially covers the cost of downside protection, with the remainder used to fund the loan.

In effect, the borrower agrees to cap the collateral’s upside in exchange for access to liquidity today. If the proceeds from the options strategy are sufficient to cover funding costs, no recurring cash interest is charged.

For example, with collateral worth $100,000, a user can borrow $50,000 before fees. At the end of the agreed term, they must repay the principal and fulfill the obligations under the options.

According to Bima, there are no margin calls or collateral liquidations during the loan term triggered by the asset reaching a certain price. At the same time, this does not eliminate default and counterparty risks, and debt repayment and options settlement remain mandatory.

      Expansion of Onchain Lending

Bima says it launched the product to make capital more accessible for asset holders. The company notes that high borrowing costs can limit users’ options even before they start using the funds they receive.

AccountableData helped build the vault infrastructure for onchain deposits and servicing fixed-term loans.

Currently, Bima offers markets across three ecosystems with one-month and one-year terms. Before posting collateral, users are advised to check deposit availability, fee levels, the asset’s potential upside cap, and settlement terms.

Bima also said it plans to add new assets and integrations, but expansion will depend on the availability of secure custody, sufficient options liquidity, and the ability to deliver the stated lending terms.

Notably, the crypto-asset-backed lending market is growing. In particular, in November 2025, USDT issuer Tether invested in Ledn, a platform specializing in bitcoin-backed loans. According to the company, in 2025 Ledn issued loans totaling a record $1 billion, and Data Intelo analysts forecast that the segment could exceed $60 billion by 2033.

In January 2026, Coinbase also launched loans of up to $1 million in USDC backed by cbETH for users in the United States, excluding New York, allowing them to access liquidity without selling the asset or stopping staking.
