Fake GIWA Layer 2 Bridge Loses 766 ETH in Security Breach

A fraudulent Layer 2 bridge associated with the GIWA project has been compromised, resulting in the loss of 766 ETH, a significant amount in the cryptocurrency market. The incident has raised concerns about security measures within decentralized finance (DeFi) platforms, particularly as users increasingly rely on such bridges for transactions.

DYORSWAP, a platform that mistakenly identified the compromised network as part of a legitimate project backed by Upbit, has announced a plan to reimburse affected users. The company stated that it would offer a 40% reimbursement to wallets that bridged less than 5 ETH during the incident, aiming to mitigate the financial impact on smaller investors.

This breach highlights the ongoing risks associated with DeFi and the importance of conducting thorough research before engaging with new projects. As the cryptocurrency landscape continues to evolve, incidents like this serve as a reminder for users to remain vigilant and informed.
