Grayscale's Zcash ETF Experiences Significant Outflows in First Week
Grayscale's ZCSH, the first U.S. spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) for Zcash (ZEC), has faced substantial outflows, losing $93.56 million in a single week. Launched on August 25, 2026, on NYSE Arca, the fund was converted from the existing Grayscale Zcash Trust and offers investors direct exposure to ZEC tokens rather than futures contracts.
Initially, the fund saw strong performance with cumulative net inflows reaching $271 million by mid-September. However, the situation changed dramatically in late September and early October, with significant redemptions recorded. On September 30, the fund experienced a single-day outflow of $30.25 million, followed by another $26.93 million on October 2. Over this period, cumulative net inflows decreased from approximately $268 million to $212.56 million, indicating a notable decline in investor confidence.
Despite the recent outflows, Grayscale's ZCSH still holds around $751 million in assets under management, down from a peak of approximately $915–979 million in September. The fund's performance has implications for the broader crypto ETF market, demonstrating that a spot product centered on a smaller token can capture a significant share of trading activity, reaching up to 32.5% of spot crypto ETF turnover at its peak. Investors will be closely monitoring whether redemption trends continue and how ZEC's price stabilizes in the coming weeks.
