SEC: Financial Privacy Should Be the DefaultOutgoing U.S. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce HesterPeirce said in a September 27 interview with scottmelker that people's right to protect their financial privacy should be respected. She noted that people are not normally required to expose all of their financial transactions to the public, and while blockchain offers transparency, that openness also makes privacy protections necessary.Peirce said that while law enforcement must still be able to do its job, protecting financial privacy in everyday life should be treated as the default rather than as a sign of suspicious activity.
