SPYx Achieves $8.4 Million Market Cap Growth in Tokenized ETF Sector
SPYx, a tokenized version of the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust, has experienced significant growth, adding approximately $8.4 million to its market capitalization over the past week. This surge positions SPYx as a leader in the tokenized exchange-traded fund (ETF) market, which now boasts a total market cap of around $639 million. SPYx's market cap is estimated to be between $67 million and $74 million, a notable achievement since its launch in June 2025.
Operating on the Solana blockchain, SPYx offers investors a 1:1 economic exposure to the SPY ETF without the complexities of traditional brokerage accounts. Each SPYx token is backed by custodian-held shares of the underlying ETF, although it does not provide voting rights or cash dividends. The product is designed primarily for non-U.S. investors, allowing for 24/7 trading and eliminating barriers such as currency conversions and market-hour restrictions.
The recent growth in SPYx's market cap is significant, as it reflects a strong demand for tokenized investment products. With between 63,000 and 77,000 token holders, SPYx has established a solid user base. Additionally, Kraken, the platform behind SPYx, has introduced yield vaults and lending pools for SPYx holders, further enhancing the product's appeal and liquidity. This innovative approach to tokenized equities may provide a competitive edge over traditional ETFs, particularly for international investors.
