Tether Freezes USDT Following Ledger User Thefts
Tether has frozen a significant amount of its USDT stablecoin in response to reported thefts linked to Ledger hardware wallets. The blockchain analytics firm MistTrack has estimated the total losses from these thefts to be around $90 million. This action by Tether aims to mitigate the impact of the thefts and protect affected users.
In light of the situation, Ledger has requested that its reseller, CryptoBilis, cease all sales and shipments of its devices. This move is part of Ledger's efforts to address the security concerns raised by the recent incidents and to prevent further losses among its customers. The company is likely to review its security protocols to enhance user protection against similar threats in the future.
