Two Dallas Men Arrested for Attempted Home Invasion Targeting Cryptocurrency Holders in San Jose

Two men from Dallas, Texas, have been arrested in connection with an attempted armed home invasion in South San Jose, California, where they allegedly targeted individuals believed to possess significant cryptocurrency holdings. The incident occurred on September 5, 2026, when the suspects, dressed as delivery workers, approached a residence and one displayed a firearm in an attempt to gain entry. However, the plan failed when the resident did not answer the door, prompting the suspects to flee the scene.

The San Jose Police Department utilized automated license plate reader technology to track the suspects, leading to the arrests of 20-year-old Damian Vielma and 19-year-old Jeremiah Clybourn on September 24, 2026, in Dallas. A search warrant executed in Dallas uncovered firearms linked to the attempted invasion, as well as other items associated with criminal activity. Both men are currently held in the Dallas County Jail, facing charges including attempted robbery and firearm offenses, and are awaiting extradition to Santa Clara County for further legal proceedings.

Investigators indicated that the suspects targeted individuals based on the belief that they held large amounts of digital assets, highlighting a growing concern for cryptocurrency holders regarding their physical security. The case illustrates the risks associated with publicly discussing cryptocurrency holdings, as well as the importance of verifying unexpected deliveries to avoid similar situations. Law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and the Texas Department of Public Safety, collaborated effectively to apprehend the suspects within three weeks of the incident.
