U.S. President Trump Announces Shift to 'Superintelligence' Terminology for AI

During a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that all government documents will now refer to artificial intelligence as "superintelligence." He argued that the term "artificial" implies a lack of authenticity, asserting that the intelligence produced by these technologies is genuine.

Trump expressed strong opposition to the establishment of a global regulatory framework for artificial intelligence, claiming that the United States is leading the way in this field. He emphasized the importance of competition in superintelligence, stating that the nation that excels in this area will ultimately prevail.

In his remarks, Trump also indicated that if regulation becomes necessary, the U.S. Department of Justice and other law enforcement agencies would address the associated risks. He highlighted the transformative potential of superintelligence, suggesting it could surpass the impact of the Industrial Revolution. Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres called for enhanced regulation of artificial intelligence, underscoring the global concern surrounding the technology.
