US Bitcoin ETFs Experience Significant Outflows Amidst Stable Prices
US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) faced substantial outflows, totaling approximately $729 million over two days, as Bitcoin's price remained relatively stable, fluctuating between $81,500 and $83,000. This decline in assets was led by major players such as Fidelity and BlackRock, with net sales reaching $702 million by Thursday, October 8, 2026.
On October 7, the funds experienced net outflows of $484.9 million, followed by an additional $244.1 million on October 8. BlackRock's IBIT fund accounted for $207.7 million of the losses on the first day, while Fidelity's FBTC fund was responsible for $197.1 million of the outflows on the second day. These withdrawals have erased the inflows recorded earlier in October, resulting in a slight negative balance for the month.
Despite the recent outflows, the overall performance of Bitcoin ETFs in 2026 has been positive, with cumulative net inflows since their launch in January 2024 reaching approximately $57.09 billion. The total assets under management for US spot Bitcoin ETFs are estimated to be between $104.91 billion and $105 billion. However, the recent outflows indicate that institutional investors may be reevaluating their short-term positions in light of broader economic conditions, including rising oil prices and Treasury yields.
