Apple Adjusts iPhone 18 Pro Orders Amid Rising Component Costs
Reports from October 9 indicate that Apple has faced significant increases in storage chip costs, prompting the company to raise prices and manage demand for its latest iPhone models. In response, Apple has instructed some suppliers to reduce production of components for the recently released iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Despite these adjustments, the overall order volume for the iPhone 18 Pro series has not changed significantly, according to a representative from an Apple supply chain company.
The representative noted that while orders for the iPhone 18 Pro have decreased following new shipping guidance from Apple, there has been a corresponding increase in orders for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This shift has resulted in a stable total order volume, benefiting the supply chain for the higher-end Pro Max model. The iPhone 18 Pro series was launched in September, with starting prices set at 9,999 yuan for the Pro and 10,999 yuan for the Pro Max, reflecting an increase from the previous iPhone 17 Pro series.
Initial sales observations in Shenzhen, China, revealed a weak buyback market for the iPhone 18 Pro, with some scalpers refraining from purchases and buyback prices falling below the official starting price. Currently, the supply of the iPhone 18 Pro appears sufficient, with only the black version of the 512GB model reported as being in limited stock, while other memory configurations are readily available. The iPhone 18 Pro Max has yet to be offered for offline purchase.
