XRP Traders Face Losses as Most Long Positions Exceed Current Price
Data from Hyperliquid indicates that a significant majority of XRP long positions are currently unprofitable, with up to 96.1% of these positions opened above the token's current trading price. As of October 15, 2026, XRP was trading between $1.30 and $1.34, having experienced volatility in the preceding days, with prices fluctuating between $1.28 and $1.50.
The derivatives market shows a decline in XRP open interest, which fell by approximately 29.7% from September 22 to October 14, dropping from 150.4 million contracts to 105.7 million. Despite this decrease, the long/short account ratio reached 3.6:1, indicating a strong bullish sentiment among remaining traders, with 360 long positions for every 100 short positions. Coin-margined contracts, which use XRP as collateral, accounted for 84.2% of long positions among top traders, increasing the risk of liquidation if prices continue to drop.
A notable exception in the market is a large long position valued at around $47 million, opened at approximately $1.13, which has remained profitable despite recent price fluctuations. Analysts suggest that if XRP falls below its recent low of $1.28, it could trigger further liquidations, adding downward pressure on prices and potentially impacting the broader market.
