Zcash Experiences Dramatic Price Surge Following Launch of First US Spot ETF
Zcash has seen a remarkable price increase, surging over 6,300% from its 2024 lows of approximately $16 to over $1,000 in early September 2026. This surge has elevated its market capitalization to nearly $17 billion, briefly surpassing that of Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency known for its widespread recognition and popularity.
The primary driver behind this significant rise was the launch of Grayscale's ZCSH, the first US spot Zcash ETF, on August 25, 2026. This new financial product provided institutional investors with a regulated means to invest in Zcash without directly purchasing the token, leading to an immediate and positive market response. Following the ETF's debut, Zcash reached an all-time high between $1,025 and $1,046, marking its most significant milestone since its inception nearly a decade ago.
The growing interest in Zcash's privacy features has also contributed to its resurgence. Approximately 30% of Zcash's total supply is now held in its shielded pool, indicating a shift towards private transactions. This trend suggests an increasing demand for privacy in cryptocurrency, contrasting with earlier years when most transactions were transparent. Analysts have drawn comparisons between Zcash's current trajectory and Bitcoin's explosive growth in 2013, highlighting the potential for further appreciation in value as the market evolves.
