A Kazakh Court Has Banned the Operations of Six Unlicensed Crypto Platforms

      • A Kazakhstan court has banned six crypto platforms from providing and advertising digital asset services without a license.
      • The list includes BingX, Bitcoin.com, HTX, BitMart, Coinbase, and WEEX.
      • The decision предусматривает geo-restricting access to the relevant services via Google Play and the Apple App Store.

The Court of the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC), following a lawsuit filed by the Financial Services Regulatory Committee (AFSA), banned six crypto platforms from providing, offering, and advertising digital asset services within the centre without the appropriate license.

The decision was issued on September 15, 2026. It applies to the operators of BingX, Bitcoin.com, Huobi Global (HTX), BitMart, Coinbase, and WEEX. The restrictions also extend to Google and Apple as app store operators — in terms of geographically blocking access to the services.

LBank was initially included in the list as well, but on September 18 the court amended its decision after the platform independently restricted access to its services in Kazakhstan.

AFSA Steps Up Crackdown on Unlicensed Platforms

In court, it was emphasized that providing digital asset services without authorization undermines the integrity of the AIFC’s regulatory system and creates unfair competition for licensed companies. The latter must comply with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing requirements, conduct customer due diligence, and undergo regulatory oversight.

According to AFSA CEO Yevgeniya Bogdanova, efforts against unlicensed crypto platforms began in 2025. At the time, the regulator sent written warnings to more than 20 platforms to clarify the AIFC’s requirements.

In early 2026, AFSA went to court over platforms that continued operating without a license. According to the regulator, nine crypto platforms voluntarily restricted access to their apps in Kazakhstan via Google Play and the Apple App Store, after which AFSA withdrew its lawsuits against them. Another seven platforms said they intended to obtain a license.

For the six platforms that remained on the list, the court decision provides for enforced access restrictions.

In addition, AFSA reminds users that clients of unlicensed platforms do not have the protections ensured by the requirements imposed on licensed participants. This includes, in particular, rules on asset custody, disclosures, complaint handling, and dispute resolution.

As a reminder, Bitget previously added Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan to its list of banned countries.
