United States and Iran Accept Pakistan's Mediation Proposal, Oil Prices Decline

The United States and Iran have tentatively accepted a mediation proposal from Pakistan, which has led to a short-term decline in crude oil prices. This development was reported by Israel's Channel 12, indicating that the Chief of Staff of the Pakistan Army submitted the proposal to senior Iranian officials, and both nations have shown initial approval.

The proposal addresses Iran's demand for the return of approximately $6 billion in frozen funds, specifying that the interest generated from these funds, held in a Qatari bank, will be transferred to Iran. Following this news, West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil prices fell by about $0.8, currently reported at $97.51 per barrel, while Brent crude oil prices also dropped to $105.76 per barrel.

The acceptance of the mediation proposal marks a significant step in U.S.-Iran relations, which have been strained for years. The involvement of Pakistan as a mediator highlights its diplomatic role in the region, potentially paving the way for further negotiations between the two countries.
