Survey Reveals Strong Demand for Crypto Services Among US Bank Customers

A recent survey conducted by Harris Poll for the National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) indicates that approximately 112 million Americans are interested in their banks offering cryptocurrency services. The findings, published in the NCA's report titled "Crypto at the Bank 2026" on October 19, 2026, highlight a significant gap between consumer interest and the current offerings of financial institutions.

The survey, which included responses from 2,017 adults in the United States, revealed that 42% of participants would be more inclined to open a new account or increase their business with a bank or credit union that provides crypto services. However, 64% of respondents reported that they had never received any information regarding cryptocurrency from their financial institutions, suggesting a lack of communication on this emerging topic.

Comfort levels with banks holding cryptocurrency appear to be relatively high, with 59% of adults expressing they would feel comfortable with their primary bank managing crypto assets on their behalf. Interest in crypto services varies among demographics, with parents of children under 18 showing the highest interest at 62%, followed by adults aged 35-44 at 58%.

Looking ahead, 60% of respondents anticipate that most US banks will offer cryptocurrency services within the next decade, a sentiment particularly strong among younger adults aged 18-34, with 74% expecting such offerings. The report also noted that when discussions about cryptocurrency occur in banking environments, recommendations for crypto services outnumber discouragements by a ratio of approximately 4-to-1.
