Aptos Labs Releases MonoMove, Smart Contract Execution Speed Up to 55x Faster
PANews, October 6 – According to TheStreet, Aptos Labs has released MonoMove, the largest proposed upgrade in the history of the Aptos blockchain's execution engine. Internal testing shows the new engine runs smart contracts up to 55x faster than the current system. Aptos Labs said its existing engine is already among the fastest of any production-grade blockchain. Tests were conducted by replaying real mainnet transactions. On Decibel, a fully on-chain exchange incubated by Aptos Labs, collateral withdrawal speed improved by up to 55x, order placement speed by up to 22x, and end-to-end sequential throughput by up to 11x, with tests simulating order books, liquidity pools, lending markets, oracle updates, and payment flows. Aptos Labs said the remaining bottlenecks are mainly between the execution and storage layers. MonoMove is expected to be feature-complete by the end of 2026 and to go live on mainnet in 2027 following a governance vote.
