ARK Invest Launches Tokenized Venture Fund on Ethereum
ARK Invest has transitioned its $1.3 billion Venture Fund onto the Ethereum blockchain, allowing eligible investors to subscribe using the stablecoin USDC. This fund, which includes stakes in private companies such as SpaceX and OpenAI, is now accessible through a crypto wallet, marking a significant step in integrating traditional finance with blockchain technology.
The subscription process utilizes the ERC-7540 standard for asynchronous vault requests. Investors submit their USDC requests, which are recorded on-chain immediately. However, the actual fund tokens are distributed to investors' wallets only after the end-of-day net asset value (NAV) calculations are completed. As of September 23, 2026, the NAV was reported at $60.49 per share, with a 2% subscription fee deducted from the gross amount before shares are allocated.
The fund aims to target disruptive innovations, particularly in sectors like artificial intelligence and aerospace. It reported a 20.35% return in the second quarter of 2026, outperforming the S&P 500's 15.20% gain during the same period. The minimum investment is set at $500, a strategy designed to attract investors who typically cannot access private market opportunities due to high minimums.
Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, emphasized the importance of moving established financial products onto blockchain platforms. Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, highlighted this launch as a testament to the firm's commitment to evolving capital markets. While the on-chain redemption process enhances transparency, it does not increase liquidity, as investors will still face the same constraints as in traditional interval funds.
