Base Chain Vault Attack Results in Losses of Approximately 6 Million USD
A vault on the Base Chain has been compromised, leading to estimated losses of around 6 million USD. The incident involved the theft of approximately 1,783 wrapped staked Ether (wstETH).
Monitoring by Spot On Chain revealed that the attacker manipulated the vault's settings by adding a new contract to its whitelist. This allowed the attacker to borrow aBaswstETH from the vault and subsequently transfer the assets to a contract under their control. The breach highlights ongoing security vulnerabilities within decentralized finance platforms.
