Bitpanda and Raiffeisen Bank Expand Partnership to 18 Million Customers

      • RBI and Bitpanda are building group-wide infrastructure for digital asset services in Central and Eastern Europe.
      • The infrastructure will cover RBI’s regional network of around 18 million customers, with a phased rollout depending on local markets.

Crypto exchange Bitpanda and Raiffeisen Bank International (RBI) expanded their strategic digital asset partnership. The companies will build group-wide infrastructure that will allow RBI’s subsidiary banks to integrate digital asset services across Central and Eastern European markets.

As part of the expanded partnership, Bitpanda will provide RBI with infrastructure via its B2B unit, Bitpanda Enterprise. It is intended to enable the group’s subsidiary banks to offer customers digital asset services in Central and Eastern European countries.

RBI’s network serves around 18 million customers. At the same time, the companies noted that the rollout will be gradual, and specific services will be implemented depending on the needs and regulatory specifics of individual jurisdictions.

According to RBI CEO Michael Höllerer, the bank is seeing growing demand for crypto assets in its markets and aims to meet it together with its partner.

The Model Was First Launched in Austria

The partnership builds on a model that Bitpanda and RBI first implemented in Austria.

In 2024, Raiffeisen Landesbank Niederösterreich-Wien became the first traditional bank in the EU to give customers access to cryptocurrencies directly within its banking environment, powered by Bitpanda’s technology.

The parties now plan to scale this approach from a single-bank level to group-wide infrastructure for RBI’s network in Central and Eastern Europe.

Bitpanda co-founder and Co-CEO Christian Trummer noted that the project launched in Austria is now evolving into a partnership that is expected to open access to digital assets for millions of customers across the region.

As a reminder, in August 2026, Bitpanda received its first fine for violating MiCA rules in Austria.
