PANews, October 14 - According to Bloomberg, Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan previously posted on social media, sparking community speculation about Polymarket issuing a token, but his remarks at the Token2049 conference in Singapore failed to meet market expectations and instead drew dissatisfaction from some users. Shayne Coplan said he is bullish on on-chain financial assets and believes tokens, equity and other forms all have development potential, but he did not explicitly announce any token issuance plan.
As speculative fervor in the crypto market cools, more and more projects are beginning to reassess the token model. A CoinGecko report shows that between January 2025 and February 2026, fewer than 10% of tokens listed on major crypto exchanges saw their prices rise. Cross-chain protocol Across is gradually winding down its token and allowing holders to exchange it for equity. Centrifuge CEO Bhaji Illuminati said tokens could become an obstacle for companies seeking to attract institutional clients and raise funds.
