Coinbase CEO Adjusts Bitcoin Price Target to $400,000 by 2030
Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, has revised his Bitcoin price target to $400,000 by 2030, a significant reduction from his previous forecast of $1 million. This new target, announced during a recent interview on CNBC, requires Bitcoin to achieve a compound annual growth rate of 51%, which is considerably higher than its historical average growth rate of approximately 34%. As of September 19, 2026, Bitcoin is trading at around $81,049.99, reflecting a 5.11% increase over the past week but still down 29.8% from a year ago.
Armstrong's updated forecast comes as Bitcoin's price has shown signs of recovery from a low of $57,717 earlier this year. He believes that the worst may be behind Bitcoin, citing the end of a down market cycle. However, achieving the $400,000 target will require Bitcoin to surpass several price milestones in the coming years, including reaching $116,270 by the end of 2027 and $175,568 by the end of 2028. The next significant event that could influence Bitcoin's price is the upcoming halving, expected in mid-April 2028, which historically has led to price surges.
Market sentiment remains mixed, with predictions indicating a 64% chance that Bitcoin will reach $85,000 by the end of 2026. Analysts note that while the initial growth trajectory appears feasible, maintaining such a high growth rate over four consecutive years poses a considerable challenge. Missing even one year could result in a lower price projection of around $248,000 by 2030, still representing a substantial return for investors buying at current levels.
