Zcash Advocacy Group Registers First Lobbyist in Washington, D.C.

Pretty Good Policy for Zcash (PGPZ), a newly established advocacy group focused on the privacy-centric cryptocurrency Zcash, has registered its first lobbyist in Washington, D.C. Divij Pandya, the group's executive director, was officially named in a filing submitted during the week of October 4, 2026. PGPZ aims to enhance policy education and advocacy related to the Zcash ecosystem, which has gained attention for its emphasis on financial privacy.

Launched in the summer of 2026, PGPZ is seeking a $750,000 grant from Zcash Community Grants to fund its first year of operations. The group's agenda includes advocating for financial privacy, digital asset market structure, developer protections, anti-money laundering regulations, sanctions, and tax policy. Pandya, who previously worked at FS Vector, will lead efforts in lobbying, policy analysis, and coalition-building on Capitol Hill.

The establishment of PGPZ follows earlier advocacy efforts led by the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL) and Paul Brigner, who spent years fostering relationships with policymakers. While ZODL will continue its focus on core protocol work and infrastructure, it will support PGPZ's independent initiatives. The group's presence in Washington is expected to provide a dedicated voice for privacy considerations in legislative discussions, particularly regarding the CLARITY Act, which addresses the classification and supervision of digital assets.
