Ethereum Dominates Stablecoin Market with 54.1% Share
As of mid-October 2026, the total supply of stablecoins has reached approximately $300.3 billion across 47 blockchains, with Ethereum holding a significant 54.1% of that supply. Tron follows with a 31.4% share, meaning these two platforms together account for over 85% of the entire stablecoin market. The data indicates that Ethereum's share can vary slightly depending on the source, with estimates ranging from 47.7% to 54.2%.
In the third quarter of 2026, the dynamics shifted as Tron added around $5 billion in stablecoin supply while Ethereum experienced a decline of approximately $4.9 billion. This trend is notable as Tron processed about 73% of the stablecoin transfer volume during the same period, significantly outpacing Ethereum's transaction flows. This suggests that while Ethereum retains a larger share of stablecoin supply, Tron is becoming increasingly efficient in its usage.
The concentration of stablecoin issuance is also a critical factor, with Tether's USDT and Circle's USDC together comprising around 85% of the total stablecoin supply. This concentration raises concerns about potential vulnerabilities in the market, as any regulatory or operational issues affecting these issuers could have widespread implications across all chains. Observers will be monitoring whether Tron's supply gains continue and how Ethereum's share stabilizes in the coming quarters.
