Ethereum Foundation Releases Hegotá Upgrade EIP Rating List, Aiming for Quantum-Resistant Ethereum L1 by End of 2029
PANews, September 7th - The Ethereum Foundation Protocol Team has released the Hegotá upgrade EIP rating list, providing a unified rating for 62 proposals. FOCIL (EIP-7805) and Frame Transactions (EIP-8141) are rated as S-level core upgrades: FOCIL enhances censorship resistance through a mandatory inclusion list, while Frame Transactions enable native account abstraction, allowing users to pay gas fees without holding ETH and providing an upgrade path for quantum-resistant signature schemes. 15 items are rated as A-level high priority, 8 items as B-level to be included as appropriate, and 28 items have been rejected, including proposals related to issuance policies such as EIP-8363 and EIP-8375. Ethereum L1 plans to achieve quantum resistance by December 2029, and Hegotá is a key upgrade that determines whether subsequent quantum-resistant hard forks can be completed on schedule.
