Google Taiwan Addresses Layoff Rumors, Confirms Ongoing Personnel Adjustments

Google Taiwan has officially denied rumors circulating on social media regarding large-scale layoffs, which claimed that 30% to 50% of its workforce, including all senior executives, would be affected. The company stated that while personnel adjustments are indeed taking place, the rumors have been exaggerated. The adjustments are part of a strategy to enhance operational efficiency, streamline organizational levels, and prepare for long-term growth.

The company emphasized that these workforce changes are aimed at aligning resources with core objectives and significant future opportunities. Google Taiwan has established its largest hardware research and development base outside the United States in Banqiao, New Taipei City, where it currently has 49 job openings. Additionally, there are 32 positions available in Taipei City, reflecting ongoing recruitment efforts despite the adjustments.

Furthermore, Google is expanding its AI infrastructure R&D center located in the Shilin District of Taipei City, with plans to increase office space by 60%. This expansion indicates a commitment to investing in key areas of technology and innovation, even as the company navigates workforce changes.
