NEAR Intents Identifies Hacker and Demands Return of Stolen Funds

NEAR Intents has announced that it has identified the hacker responsible for a recent security breach that resulted in the theft of approximately $3.8 million in user funds. Alex Shevchenko, General Manager of NEAR Intents, stated that the team has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the hacker to return the stolen funds through what they describe as "responsible disclosure."

The incident prompted NEAR Intents to suspend its services due to a vulnerability discovered in the interaction between its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure and its smart contracts. The company has pledged to fully compensate affected users for their losses.

Following the theft, on-chain detective ZachXBT reported that the stolen funds were transferred to the cryptocurrency exchange KuCoin and subsequently converted into Bitcoin across various blockchain networks. This development highlights ongoing concerns regarding security in the cryptocurrency sector.
