NEAR Protocol Proposes Changes to Token Issuance and Staking Yield
Sal Ternullo, CEO of NEAR Treasury Company SVRN, has proposed a reduction in the maximum annual token issuance rate for NEAR Protocol from 2.5% to 1.6% over the next 24 months. This proposal, which is currently open for feedback from validators, House of Stake delegators, and NEAR community members, also suggests lowering the staking yield from approximately 5.4% to about 3.5%. A complete plan is expected to be presented next week for a community vote.
In light of a recent security incident involving NEAR Intents, NEAR Protocol has assured users that the blockchain network is functioning normally. The organization clarified that the incident did not stem from any vulnerabilities in the NEAR Protocol or its native token, NEAR. The network continues to produce blocks and process transactions without experiencing any downtime.
